Interested in YOUR store becoming a member of CDG?
The primary focus of the CONTEMPORARY DESIGN GROUP is to harness and share our collective knowledge to improve the consumer experience, increase our buying power, collaborate on successful business strategies, and share innovative advertising solutions for independent contemporary retail furniture stores and storeowners.
In 1983, Ed Haimsohn and Howard Haimsohn, father & son owners of Lawrance Furniture in San Diego, established the CONTEMPORARY DESIGN GROUP , seeking a community of likeminded retailers with whom they could share ideas and build buying power. Since then, CDG has grown into a dynamic networking and buying group, working collectively with suppliers around the world to develop exclusive product for group members.
CDG member stores work non-competitively in a community of like-minded stores, and must be willing to share ideas within the group. The group meets annually for an industry-respected conference, sponsored and attended by the best names in the contemporary furniture industry.
We also meet throughout the year at most major furniture markets. These meetings, both formal and casual, allow us time to share supplier ideas and explore strategies for our mutual benefit and success.
Sharing, learning, and incorporating new ideas are what each member store gains most from their participation in the CONTEMPORARY DESIGN GROUP.
